Materials and their use in Sangam Literature

Human beings are distinguished from other species by their ability to think and act, and by their ability to control nature's gifts. The materials represent the speciality with which ancient society lived in harmony with nature. The use of natural materials such as soil, stone and wood in their daily life, rather than using them in a way that transcends time and culture, can be cited as evidence of the moral life of the Tamils.
